Affiliate disclosure

Gadget Audit may earn a commission when a reader follows a qualifying product link and completes a purchase. This does not increase the price paid by the reader.

How affiliate links affect coverage

Affiliate eligibility does not guarantee coverage or a positive verdict. Products are selected for relevance to the article, and the editorial goal is to explain both utility and trade-offs clearly.

Amazon Associates

If Amazon affiliate links are activated, Gadget Audit will participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.

Crowdfunding referrals

Some Kickstarter or Indiegogo links may also be referral links. A commission does not remove the risks of crowdfunding: projects can change, miss delivery estimates or fail to deliver.

Sponsored content and samples

Paid placements, sponsored articles or products supplied for review will be identified clearly in the relevant content. Editorial opinions are not sold as part of an affiliate arrangement.

Two-tiered disclosure

Every page that can earn us money carries a short disclosure above the content; this page carries the full version. The short variant names the commission and the fact that you pay nothing extra; the long variant names every relationship, rate and rule. The model is two-tiered by design: one precedent we follow is PCMag, which pairs a long in-article disclosure variant with a short legal footer variant.

We never sell prominence

Some publishers sell better placement to retail partners. TechRadar’s own content-funding page documents a “Preferred Partner” program in which a preferential affiliate rate buys greater page prominence, with three paid labels carrying different review rights. That is the anti-pattern this page exists to rule out: at Gadget Audit, prominence is never for sale, deal cards are never sponsored, and if commission rates ever differ between retailers, the differential is disclosed on the deal card itself.
